Can you risk losing your data?
In our last post we highlighted the dangers there are out there in the cyber world. But still for some reason many companies do not recognise the importance of backing up their data on a regular basis. Backing up your data not only protects you from it being stolen or held to ransom by hackers or ransomware, but it also it also protects you from any other disasters such as fire or flood.
If you live in Swindon or the surrounding area, you may think that the chances of a mass flood wiping out your systems are pretty unlikely, and you are probably right. But are you aware that a simple crash of your system could also result in you having no access to your files until the system is restored and in some cases, when severe, can result in them being lost or corrupted.
Over the years, Systems integration have helped numerous business with our back up solutions and to this day we are still amazed that some companies have not bothered using a data backup service of one form or another.
These are just some of the reasons for businesses not backing up their digital data, and these are excuses that just, well, don't really cut the mustard..
Do you run a company that has is using one of these excuses and is putting your data at risk?
"My budget is a bit tight right now, and so the last thing I want to do is fork over extra money"
Nope.....A data backup service is, in effect, an insurance policy. If you drove a taxi for a living, would you consider driving around without a vehicle insurance? You taxi is your living, you will be even worse off financially if you have a crash..the same goes for your IT system and your data...Put it this way: If you don’t have the finances to back up your business’s data now, you definitely won’t have the financial means to recover later.
HAS NOT HAPPENED YET
"We have been using IT for 15 years and we haven’t lost any data yet"
Our team at Systems Integration have had a lottery syndicate for the past 15 years..we haven't won. We still work, but, we still buy the tickets.
This begs the question...Have we been unlucky or have you been lucky??
The thing being, you should never put your hopes on a gamble and you cannot run a business on luck. A good business runs on sound strategy.
In this day and age, it is vital that your business has a data recovery or backup plan in place. Not only does it help you save your data, but it reduces any downtime which will potentially save your business reputation.
"It seems like a big job and we don't have the manpower at the moment"
This is not an excuse but fact... Backup networks require ongoing support and attention just like primary networks do, and you may not have the experience or the staff to perform the job.
If you find yourself in this situation, you can work with a managed services provider like ourselves. Outsourced managed IT services will provide your business with IT support on an as-needed basis. It’s a cost-effective and reliable way to run a backup network.
Here at Systems Integration, we’d hate to be the ones to say “we told you so” if you permanently lose access to important files.
So no more excuses people! Back up your data today or if you are struggling to do it..contact us and let us help
